Project Overview
7 Bedford Square, London WC1B 3RA – A beautiful Grade I listed building built between 1776 and 1780. We are proud to have worked closely with Camden Council on this stunning Grade I listed building preparing and submitting all required documentation to achieve Listed Building Consent, for our client Bloomsbury Institute London.
Bloomsbury Institute is a higher education institute with a big heart and an important purpose: to work together to break down the barriers that hold people back.
We worked closely with the management team at Bloomsbury Institute to create a new, contemporary and flexible training facility for their students and teachers.
We stripped everything back to CAT A and re-fitted a fully functional CAT B ‘plug and play’ facility for the staff and students alike, here at Bedford Square.
It was important to have multiple uses of the space, with movable furniture and folding walls high on the priority for function and practicality.
Flexibility for well-being and for a variety of meeting set ups was also a hot topic.
Acoustics and sound absorption were very important in the newly created edit suite we installed.
Bloomsbury Institute are particularly focused on sustainable solutions and we delivered products and solutions that are not only long-lasting, but also have low carbon impact and excellent environmental credentials. We fitted acoustic panelling from sustainable sources 70% of which is made from recycled bottles.
We re-purposed the existing furniture to save it from going to landfill.
We also installed a simple, effective and user-friendly, touch screen video conferencing solution for the Institute’s modern way of teaching.
The contemporary interior design solution will see hundreds of students through its doors in the years to come.
